The traditional architectures used dynamics structures that support the building in balance and stability. Along with the developments in times, people started to emphasize on the decorative aesthetic and meanings day after days, which became more important than it’s practical functions.

Paitou at the grand palace of Guanyin Temple, Shoushanyan Increasing the weight of the roof, preventing the roof from being blown off by wind. Lion and elephant statures on the veranda at the front palace of Jingfu Temple, Taoyuan The same function as “Guatong,” possessing the function to support the weight and enhance the stability of the pillar.
